This poster is a reproduction of the color photo "Piss Christ," from the exhibition Redemption where Andres Serrano depicts the homeless, the dead, and the symbols of the church.

Andres Serrano was born in 1950 in New York and grew up in the Italian district of Williamsburg with his Cuban-American mother, but without his father. Growing up, the Metropolitan Museum of Art became a sanctuary where he discovered Renaissance painting. He studied art and worked for several years as an advertising photographer. In the mid-eighties he got his artistic breakthrough at a time when the photographic image was synonymous with small black and white prints for most people. He began photographing bodies in a graphic strict form as an homage to the forms of classicism and used body fluids such as blood, urine and semen.

Andres Serrano challenges his and others' compulsions with topics that border on what is accepted. He says he wants to investigate things that he himself knows nothing about and through the works make us discuss things that we do not usually talk about.
